February 02: Sopore police busted a JeM terror module and solved the grenade throwing case

On 25-01-2019, a grenade was hurled on SBI camp of 179BN CRPF at Sopore, however the grenade missed the intended target and exploded outside the camp in which no one got injured. In this connection, a case FIR No. 13/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation of the case was set into motion.
During the course of investigation, three suspected persons namely Ghulam Qadir Rather alias Kasir son of Mohd Shafi Rather resident of Tarzoo Sopore, Aijaz Ahmad Khan son of Gh. Mohd Khan resident of Naseem Bagh Sopore and Owais Khalid Dar son of Ghulam Mohd Dar resident of Nageenbagh Krankshivan Colony Sopore were detained by police for questioning.
During questioning, they confessed the terror crime. It was further revealed that the JeM terrorists active in Sopore provided 02 grenades to these individuals for throwing on the security forces to cause damage to life and property and instill fear psychosis among the general public. Moreover, one grenade was also recovered from them. Accordingly they have been formally arrested in the case and further investigation of the case is going on.
