Budgam police lend a helping hand, Evacuates pregnant woman to hospital, Rescues families from avalanche-prone village


February 07: Budgam police acted swiftly and rescued some families including a pregnant woman.

DO Waterhail in Budgam district received a call that a pregnant woman is stuck in her snowbound Arizal village and needs to be taken to hospital for immediate medical treatment.

Since the road was not feasible for driving due to heavy snowfall, DO Waterhail SI Gowhar along with police party evacuated the patient by walking towards hospital. She was admitted at District Hospital where she gave birth to a baby.

In other incident, Police Station Khag received a distress call from villagers of Kokerbagh that an avalanche hit their village and some families are trapped. After receiving this information, a team of police under SHO Khag along with snow clearance staff rushed to the spot and after strenuous efforts rescued the trapped families and evacuated them to safer locations.
