*December 10:* ```Shopian Police initiated action against the illegal extraction of resources form the river beds.

In order to protect the river ecosystem and prevent the illegal extraction of resources, Shopian Police carried out special drive along the banks of river Rambiara extending from the areas of village Heff to Aglar.

Officers on the spot seized vehicles including trucks, tractors, JCB and loader used for the illegal extraction of river bed material besides arrested 10 person involved in the illegal extraction of resources.

Case FIR No. 67/2019 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Zainapora and investigation in the matter has been initiated.

Community members have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against anti social elements.```
