Srinagar Police arrests two drug peddlers, contraband substance seized

December 21: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar, arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at international crossing Sonwar intercepted two individuals identified as Uzair Shafi and Nadeem Shafi both residents of Khalpora, Kantbagh, Chadoora Budgam. Officers at the checkpoint recovered some Charas from their possession.

Case FIR No. 99/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered & investigation initiated.

Officers during the course of investigation were able to recover 9 Kgs of Charas from Shivpora area of Srinagar.

Both the drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh where they remain in custody.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
