Advisor (B), DGP interact with Jammu Zone Police officers

Jammu, 01 February: Advisor to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, J&K, Shri Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar and Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh interacted with Zonal IGP, Range DIsG and district SSsP of Jammu zone today in the district police lines Jammu.

The interaction was attended by IGP Jammu zone Shri Mukesh Singh, DIG DKR range Shri B. S. Tuti, SO to IGP Jammu Shri Rajesh Sharma, SSP Rajouri Shri Jugal Manhas, SSP Kathua Shri Shridhar Patil, SSP Ramban Ms Anita Sharma, SSP Reasi Ms Rashmi Wazir, SSP Kistwar Shri Harmeet Singh, SSP Udhampur Shri P Rajeev Omparkash, SSP Poonch Shri Ramesh Angral, SSP PCR Jammu Shri Kulbir Singh, AIG Communication/ Welfare PHQ Manoj Pandith and ASP Ops Doda Shri Ravinder Pal Singh.

The DGP welcoming the Advisor (B) said that it was privilege to work with him in the capacity of DG CRPF earlier. He said that the leadership and the guidance during that time was utmost encouraging that helped in the strong synergy between JKP and CRPF. Giving the details of the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the DGP said that JK Police is working day & night to maintain the law & order situation in all the districts of the Jammu region. He said besides many successful counter terrorism operations, Jammu zone is dealing efficiently with other social crime including drug trafficking, crime against women and children and other heinous crime and is working hard to keep all types of crimes under check.

Speaking on the occasion the Advisor (B) appreciated the good work done by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Complementing for the yesterdays highly successful naka checking which led to elimination of 03 foreign terrorists, he said that neutralizing these fully armed terrorists has possibly prevented a fidayeen attack and much bigger terror plot and emphasized upon the officers that it is proved that preventive action is always better. He said that border, security and highway grids are to be further tightened and maximum use of technology should be made to prevent such attempts. He said efforts are being made to revive terrorism in the Jammu region and Police along other security agencies should fill the gaps to prevent any such attempts. Shri Bhatnagar lauded the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police against the drug peddling and said that good job is done on that front but more is needed. He said that since the Jammu region has vast border connectivity with the rest of country, plugging the routes and increasing the naka points will put a check on the NDPS activities.

Inspector General of Police, Jammu Shri Mukesh Singh gave a detailed presentation on the crime, law & order and other security scenario of the Jammu region. He said that Jammu Police has increased the disposal rate in the crime cases and have improved conviction rate also. He said that all district SSsP are taking strict action against the drug peddlers and their main focus is on the main suppliers of the drugs. He said that Civic Action Programmes, Police Public Community Group Meeting and lectures in the schools and colleges are the regular initiatives to generate awareness among the youth regarding the evil effects of drug abuse.
