*March 11:``Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Budgam and Anantnag, Police in a series of action have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.

In Budgam, officers at a checkpoint on Dardapora Chrawini crossing intercepted an individual identified as Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Dardapora Chari-Sharief. During the search 8Kgs Poppy Straw has been recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Chari-Sharief where he remains in custody. Case FIR No. 15/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation into the matter is in progress.

In another action, officers at a checkpoint in the jurisdiction of PS Budgam intercepted one individual identified as Azhar Nazir Magloo resident of Choon Budgam. During search officers were able to recover banned Spasmoproxyvon Capsules from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Budgam where he remains in custody. Case FIR No. 71/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation in the matter has been initiated.

In a similar action in Anantnag, officers at a checkpoint established at Magray Pora Nanil road Mattan have intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK13-0772 and JK01J-6373 respectively. Officers during checking have been able to recover to 130Kgs Poppy Straw from the drivers of the said vehicles identified as Mohd Saleem and Aijaz Ahmad both residents of Marhama Bijbehara.

They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Mattan where they remain in custody. Vehicles involved in the commission of crime have also been seized. Case FIR No. 12/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Mattan. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.```
