*March 16:* ```On the directions of SSP Srinagar, Officers from Police Station Zadibal headed by SHO Zadibal under the supervision of SDPO Hazratbal Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS conducted surprise checking in the Zadibal area of the city Srinagar.

The checking was aimed to remove encroachments in Zadibal area by the shopkeepers who have displayed their commodities on road, footpaths for sale causing much inconvenience to the general public.

Action under section 36 Police Act was initiated against two erring shopkeepers identified as Umer Farooq Sofi son of Farooq Ahmed Sofi and Aamir Shakeel Sofi son of Shakeel Ahmed Sofi both residents of Hawal.

Srinagar police is committed for the welfare of society and will conduct such drives on routine basis & urged shopkeepers not to violate the rules.

General public of the area appreciated the move and hoped that such drives will continue in future as well.```
