Handwara March 21: In its continuous offensive against menace of drug abuse under the command of
SP Handwara *Dr. G.V.Sundeep Chakravarthy-IPS,* Handwara Police continues its war against Drugs.

In a continuous effort to eliminate the menace of drug peddling from the society, two notorious drug peddlers namely

1. Abdul Hameed Rather
S/o Gulam Mohd Rather
R/o Amargarh Tarathpora Vilgam and
2.Pervaz Ahmed Malik
S/o Abdul Jabbar Malik
R/o Daril Payeen Vilgam..
who were involved in drug peddling have been detained under *Public Safety Act* through order issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and have been lodged in District Jail Baramulla and Anantnag respectively

It is pertinent to mention here that under the provisions of Sec 3 of Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1988, a person engaged in Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances , which poses a serious threat to the health of a person and Society can be detained upto maximum period of one year.

Handwara Police has arrested as many as 15 notorious drug peddlers in different NDPS cases in the last one month..

Handwara Police is committed to continue it's war against the drug peddlers and sought co-operation of people in curbing social evils especially drug abuse to save the youth from this fatal addiction..
