Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh visited Police Welfare Centre and Police Workshop in the Srinagar district to assess the ongoing work of fabrication of protective gears/ articles and sanitizing tunnels in view of Corona Virus outbreak He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Zone Shri Vijay Kumar during the tour.

Acting tough against the violators of Government prohibitory orders, Police in a series of action have arrested 16 persons and seized 03 vehicles in Srinagar.

With reference to a claim by certain groups that freedom of press is being curtailed, IGP Kashmir said that before making such broad generalisations people should ascertain the facts.

In Srinagar, police extending it’s helping hand distributed 6000 kgs of rice, 3000 kgs of wheat, 650 kgs of Dal Channa and Razma, 1950 kgs of Red Chilli powder, 130 kgs of Turmeric powder, 650 kgs of salt, 650 packets of Tea Lepton, 300 kgs of milk, 650 liters of mustard oil and other essentials to the local of the area. Medicine worth Rupees over thirty thousand was also provided to the persons in need in the district. Police also provided 7100 kgs of rice and over 800 kgs of different Dals, medicine and some cash to the non-locals putting up in the Srinagar District during lockdown.

Handwara Police today submitted Chargesheet in a Case FIR No 281/2019 of Police Station Handwara. The FIR pertains to the incident dated 26.10.2019 wherein a lady was apprehended at a checkpoint with threatening posters of proscribed terror outfit LeT and other incriminating material at Market Handwara and accordingly she was booked in case FIR No. 281/2019 of PS Handwara under relevant sections of law.

In Ganderbal, 700 kgs of rice, 800 kgs of flour, 150 kgs of Dal and vegetables, 85 liters of cooking oil, 150 kgs of turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt, 100 liters of milk has been provided to the people in need in the district, besides over 1500 Masks and sanitizers were provided to the locals of the district during the period of lockdown. Police also provided 300 kgs of rice, 200 kgs of flour and 53 kgs of dals and vegetables and other essential to the non-locals putting up in the district during lockdown.

In Budgam, over then thousand masks and 2000 sanitizers were provided to the locals of the districts and 500 masks and 200 sanitizers were provided to the non-locals putting up in the district during lockdown.

Complete lockdown ensured across Jammu and Kashmir to stop the community spread of COVID-19, besides, social distancing was also ensured at ATMs, Medicare Centers and other important places.

Helplines functional at every district headquarters to provide 24 hours immediate and emergency response.

People are requested to continue their cooperation with the law enforcing agencies and stay indoors so that the chain of epidemic is broken.
