SRINAGAR, April 29: Director General of Police, J&K Shri Dilbag Singh today visited North Kashmir’s district Baramulla to take stock of the preparation/measures amid COVID-19 to contain the spread of the disease. He also reviewed security scenario of all the districts of North Kashmir Range. He was accompanied by the IGP Kashmir Zone Shri Vijay Kumar.

The DGP chaired the meeting of senior jurisdictional Police officers and commanding officers from Police and CAPFs of North Kashmir range districts wherein he reviewed the preparations & measures put in place to tackle the spread of coronavirus cases.

During the meeting the DGP stressed for implementing the government orders in letter and spirit to contain the spread of Corona Virus particularly in red zone areas. He directed that all the necessary preventive and precautionary measures have to be strictly enforced on ground to check the disease.

He emphasized upon the officers to continue all help in tracking the contacts of Corona positive persons so that the transmission chain could be breached. He directed the officers that only permissible public movement has to be allowed, particularly in the areas declared as containment zones.

The DGP appreciated the good work done by all ranks of police and Security Forces so far in containing the further spread of COVID-19 and stressed for sustained efforts at all levels and involvement of local populace in breaking the chain.

He commended the role of social and religious leaders for asking people to stay and pray from their homes during the holy month of Ramazan and added that without people’s cooperation desired results cannot be achieved.

He said that with the teamwork of the forces and society, effective implementation of lockdown is being ensured. He advised the officers to make sure that all police personnels are well equipped and sensitised on ground to not only implement government orders and advisories but also be mindful of their own health care.

The DGP commended the excellent work being done by the Police, Army and CAPF on various fronts and added that we have to consistently safeguard and protect our people and institutions from the Pakistan sponsored onslaughts on the peaceful environment prevailing here and to keep the hard work on to foil terrorist designs to disturb lives and livelihoods of the common masses.

He said that our counter terrorist grid will continue its operations, despite the Pandemic and added that there will be no compromise let up in our efforts for establishing a lasting peace in the Union Territory.

He said that our officers and jawans are going out of way and doing an exemplary work in providing a helping hand to the needy people at this critical juncture and assured that we will continue to serve our people with full commitment.

Stressing for more vigil and alertness, DGP said that infiltration attempts are being constantly made from across the border and all concerned security forces are maintaining alert at the borders to check the nefarious designs of our neighboring country.

Earlier, officers gave a detailed briefing to the DGP about the preparation and contribution made amid COVID-19 and the security situation of their respective areas and jurisdictions.

The meeting besides IGP Kashmir was attended by all District SsP of North Kashmir Range, Commandants of Armed/IRP and CRPF battalions, Principal STC Sheeri, Addl. SP Baramulla and other jurisdictional gazetted officers.

Last evening, the DGP visited South Kashmir’s District Anantnag to take stock of the security scenario and preparation to contain the spreads of COVID-19 disease.

The DGP chaired meeting of senior jurisdictional officer of Anantnag and Awantipora wherein he reviewed the security situation, Counter-Terrorist ops and COVID-19 measures.

The meeting was attended by IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, DIG SKR Shri Atul Goel, SSP Anantang and SSP Awantipora.
