*May 19:* ```Continuing its drive against drug dealings, Police arrested 04 drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Awantipora at a checking point at Dahwatoo crossing intercepted four persons identified as Ishfaq Ahmad, Bilal Ahmad, Mohammad Akbar, residents of Beighpora and Mohammad Abbas resident of Renzipora. During checking officers were able to recover 20 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where they remain in custody.

Case FIR No 67/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
