May 20: ```Police in a recent action against drug dealings in Handwara have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Batagund Crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL14CF- 4560 with one person on board. He has been identified as Amir Ahmad Malik resident of Adoora Qalamabad.

During search officers were able to recover 1 Kg of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station Qalamabad where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Case FIR No.50/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
