Srinagar Police arrests two drug peddlers; contraband substance recovered

July 11:```Continuing its drive to eradicate drug menace from the society, Srinagar Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Foreshore Shalimar Link Road intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK01P- 6522 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mohd Ayoub Wani and Mohd Altaf Parra both residents of Sumbal Bandipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 04 Kgs of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Harwan where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 58/2020 under relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Harwan and further investigation has been initiated into the case.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
