July 14:Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Sopore have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Shangergund intercepted an individual identified as Nasir Ah Khawaja resident of Seelo Sopore. During checking officers were able to recover 143 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon Plus and 12 bottles of Codeine from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sopore where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 184/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation in the matter has been initiated.

It is pertinent to mention here that Police Station Sopore had arrested 38 drug peddlers in 22 NDPS cases since March 2019, and 5 among them were booked under PSA.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
