Kulgam, 15 August: Today on 15.08.2020 74th Independence day 2020 was celebrated in District Kulgam with highest fervor wherein tricolor was unfurled at each Police Station/police establishment. The main function in this behalf was held at District Police Lines Kulgam in which Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shri Showkat Aejaz Bhat-KAS as chief guest alongwith SP Kulgam shri Gurinderpal Singh-IPS unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the parade.
The parade was commanded by DySP PC Mirbazar shri Surinder Mohan-KPS, consisting the contingents of CRPF, District Police, Ladies police, new recruits, Home guard, police band and NCC
MP Nazir Ahmad Laway ( Guest of honour), ADDC kulgam shri Reyaz Ahmad-KAS, Addl SP Kulgam Shri Mohammad Yousuf-KPS, ACR Kulgam Shri Imtiyaz Mir-KAS, DySP DAR Kulgam Shri Muzaffar Jan-KPS, Officers of Army & CRPF, with other senior officers of civil administration, police department and other concerned were present.
Besides, colorful cultural programmes featuring patriotic and cultural themes were presented by cultural clubs, CRPF and Police Jawan's, with precautionary protocols in place on account of the Covid-19 pandemic and awards were given to the best performers by the chief guest. Covid warriors were also awarded.
As the Covid-19 situation has prompted the administration to celebrate the 74th independence day in a subdue manner. With no let-up in Covid-19 cases, the celebrations were brought under restrictions.
Keeping in view nefarious designs of antisocial activists/miscreants who may try to disrupt the peace and order on this occasion, elaborate security arrangements were made by the District Police Kulgam with other security forces in this behalf.
