Bandipora, August 15 :The 74th Independence Day 2020 was celebrated in district Bandipora today.The main function was organized at SK Stadium Bandipora were deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr.Owais Ahmad -IAS, who was chief guest on the occasion, accompanied by SSP Bandipora Sh.Rahul Malik-IPS unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the March past presented by the contingents of JKP, IRP,CRPF,JKP Women ,SPO's JKHG.The event was also witnessed by senior officers of civil administration, police ,Army,CRPF and public.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the people and the administration on the eve of Independence Day and said that the district administration is committed to achieve the target of sustainable development and will work for the betterment of people.He appreciated the efforts of COVID-19 warriors in fighting containment efforts of district administration.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner also awarded a number of officers and fieldworkers for their outstanding performances and awarded appreciation trophies amongst the participants.

Later on a cultural programme was performed followed by demonstration of mixed martial arts showcased by a special police team of Bandipora police.
Similar Independence Day functions were also organised at subdivision Sumbal and Gurez.
