Martyrs Cricket Tournament commences in Budgam   Organizing Cricket tournaments aimed to prepare Kashmir eleven: DGP J&K   Says “We all have to work together to strengthen the bond of brotherhood

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 12: Continuing with its successful initiatives of organising sports events, to channelise youth energy Jammu and Kashmir Police today launched one more Cricket tournament at Budgam. 
 
DGP J&K Sh Dilbag Singh who was the chief guest inagurated the tournament being organised in fond memory of  Martyrs.
 
The tournament is organized by J&K police under its civil action programme in which eighteen teams from across the Budgam District are participating.
 
IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, DC Budgam Shri Shahbaz Mirza, SSP Budgam Shri Nagpure Amod Ashok, COs of Army, CRPF, SSB and other senior Police and civil officers were present on the occasion.
 
Speaking on the inaugural function the DGP said that youth are contributing to J&K’s peace mission by participating in different positives activities.  
 
The DGP appreciated the District police Budgam and its partner agencies for organizing this event and said that it has always been the effort of J&K police to provide better platform to the youth interested in sports. He said that under this initiative, a number of events have been organized succesfully and added that after the conclusion of Police Public Cricket League Srinagar, we have mega sports events going on in Bandipora and Handwara. Cricket T-20 tournaments  are  going on in Ganderbal, Bandipora,
Handwara  and now in Budgam.
 
 The DGP said that organizing these tournaments is aimed to prepare Kashmir eleven which will be representing the valley on the national level. He advised the participants to play the tournament by putting in use best of their talent so as to make their place in Kashmir Eleven.
 
He said that Kashmir has been the land of saints who promoted the universal language of love and preached how people of different faiths could live peacefully together and added that we have to follow their footsteps to work for peace and stability of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that J&K from last over three decades has been a victim of terrorism, disturbance and destruction and a number of innocent civilians lost their precious lives. He said that we all have to work together to strengthen the bond of brotherhood and to bring back the lost glory of Kashmir.  
 
While paying rich tributes to the martyred police personnel, the DGP said that our martyrs without caring for their lives fought till their last breath for peace of J&K and added that they gave supreme sacrifices of their lives while protecting and safeguarding the interests of people.
 
The DGP said youth have great energy and potential to shape a better world and added that our youth is contributing to J&K’s peace mission by participating in different positive activities.He said that we have to continue our peace efforts so that long-lasting peace is achieved in Jammu and Kashmir.
 
Speaking to the media, the DGP said that it always has been the effort of Jammu and Kashmir Police to provide platform to our youth and enhance their talent and added that more events will be organized in the future also. Referring to the threat perceptions received by some Kashmir based media houses, the DGP said that TRF is the mouthpiece of ISI and other terror organizations are working under it. He said that these threats  directly emnate from ISI with an intension to built pressure on media persons who are highlighting different public issues.He said that their evil designs would be foiled with fortitude.
 
SSP Budgam Sh Amod Nagpure Ashok speaking on this occasion thanked the DGP,J&K, IGP Kashmir, DC Budgam, civil, police officers, personnel ,participants and the people for making the inauguration successful. He said that about 300 players of 18 teams are participating in the tournament.
