Srinagar police arrests 02 drug peddlers


April 16:`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Shalteng Parimpora signalled three persons to stop for checking. However, one among them fled from the spot while the two persons identified as Firdous Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh and Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Shalteng Parimpora were apprehended. On checking, 250 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession.

On questioning, the duo revealed the identification of the third person as their associate namely Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Habib-ul-lah Dar resident of Parimpora Srinagar. Efforts are on to nab the accused person.

Accordingly, a case FIR number 67/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.```
