April 18:*Continuing the drive “war against drugs”, Police in Bandipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Acting on specific information, a police party led by In-charge Police Post Aloosa established a checkpoint at Malangam Bandipora. During checking, the police party intercepted one person and recovered 160 grams of charas from his possession. He has identified as Samir Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Shaban Sheikh resident of Malangam Bandipora. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

A case FIR number 47/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bandipora and investigation was taken up.

During the course of investigation, it was learnt that the accused drug peddler was supplying these drugs to youth of the area, especially in and around Aloosa-Malangam belt.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
