April 18:`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Budgam have arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Gudsatoo Budgam and intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Waris Mohidin Sofi resident of Panzan Chadoora and Owais Muzzafar Dar resident of Ompora Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 3.2kgs of Poppy Straw, 100grams Charas, 03 Bottles of Codeine Phosphate, 105 tablets and 33 capsules of banned drug concealed in a polyethylene bags from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 87/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
