Police arrests three drug peddlers; Contraband substances recovered


November 23:Police in a series of actions across Kashmir valley have arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag and Baramulla. Huge cache of contraband substances have been recovered from their possession.

In Anantnag, officers from Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint arrested three drug peddlers identified as Mehraj Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohd Ismail resident of Dalgate Srinagar, Mohd Altaf Baluki son of Abdul Rashid resident of Ranawari Srinagar and Rayees Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Salam resident of Prichal Pulwama. Officers were able to recover 12Kgs of Charas powder from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Bijbehara and investigation initiated.

In Baramulla, during routine patrolling at Yadipora Pattan a police party led by I/C PP Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Shri Mohammad Nawaz Khanday-JKPS, arrested a drug peddler identified as Laldin Poswal son of Siraj-ud-din Poswal resident of Warnow Lolab Kupwara and recovered 16 strips (172 tablets) of banned drugs from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. A case under relevant section of law has been registered at PS Pattan and further investigation is in progress.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
