May 20: `An infiltration bid was foiled in Tangdar Sector of district Kupwara by killing one foreign terrorist and recovery of huge cache of narcotics and arms/ammunition from his possession.

At about 0900hrs, a group of heavily armed terrorists attempted to infiltrate in Tangdhar Sector of Kupwara and subsequently were challenged by the alert troops deployed on LoC. However, the terrorists opened fire on the troops which was retaliated effectively resulting in elimination of one terrorist on spot. The other terrorist is believed to have got injured and escaped from the spot; however search is going on to trace him.

The killed terrorist’s deadbody has been recovered and the ID-card recovered from his possession identified him as Mohd Nazeer resident of Athmuqam area of PoK. Huge cache of narcotic substances and arms/ammunition including 10 packets of Heroin, 02 AK rifles, 02 AK magazines, 02 Pistols and 04 Pistol magazines have been recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered FIR at Police Station Karnah and further investigation is in progress.```
