June 19:`Police in Handwara along with security forces have arrested 03 terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr and recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from their possession.

Acting on specific information regarding movement of terrorists in Wangam area of Handwara, a special checkpoint was established by Police, 32RR and 92Bn CRPF near Wangam Crossing. During checking, the alert joint party apprehended three individuals moving in suspicious circumstances. They have been identified as Nazim Ah Bhat son of Gh Mohd, Siraj din Khan son of Bashir Ah and Adil Gull son of Gh Mohidin Wani, all the residents of Khaipora, Kralgund.

On their personal search, incriminating materials, arms/ammunition including 01 Pistol, 01 Magazine, 08 live rounds and 02 Hand Grenades were recovered.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested trio is linked with the proscribed terror outfit Al- Badr and they were tasked by Pakistan based handlers to carry out terrorist acts in the area.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 40/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at P/S Kralgund and further investigation is in progress.```
