June 23: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Acting on specific information regarding hoarding of narcotic substances in the house of Shahnawaz Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Qadir Ganie resident of Hyderpora Budgam, a police party from Police Post Humhama alongwith concerned Magistrate raided the specific house. During search, officers were able to recover 65 grams of Charas like substance, 15 bottles of codeine and cash amount of ₹1,39,000/- from the said house and arrested the two accused persons involved in the commission of crime. The other arrested accused person has been identified as Mohammad Ayoub Sofi son of Ab Ahad Sofi resident of Chana Mohalla Hyderpora (AP Narkara Budgam). Both the accused persons have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 207/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam. Further investigation of the case is going on and more recoveries and arrests are expected.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.```
