August 01:`Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Budgam have arrested 04 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.

Acting on specific information about gambling activities at SIDCO Housing Colony Ompora, a police party of Police Station Budgam raided the specific site and arrested 04 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Aga Syed Sajad son of Aga Syed Mehdi, Riyaz Ahmed Malla son of Ghulam Hussain Malla, Asif Mohammad Rather son of Late Ghulam Mohammad Rather and Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Rather son of Ghulam Mustafa Rather, all residents of Ichagam Budgam.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹12,170/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 258/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.```
