August 05: `Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Furqan Qadir-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Gul Abad Arampora intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot, but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. He has been identified as Sona-Ullah-Shalla son of Muhammad Subhan Shalla resident of Gul Abad Arampora Sopore. During checking, 300grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 166/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated.
