September 13: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Officers from Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Furqan Qadir-JKPS, during patrolling at Mumkak Sopore intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Muhammad Asif Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Mumkak Sopore. During search, 42grams of Brown Sugar like substance and a weighing machine was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 206/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation was initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddler in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddler should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
