November 12:`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Baramulla have arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police party of PP Mirgund under the supervision of I/C PP Mirgund SI Ather Parvaiz at a checkpoint established at Mirgund Pattan arrested two drug peddlers identified as Umer Ahmad Khanday son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Mujgund Srinagar & Nasir Manzoor Sheikh son of Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh resident of Lawaypora Srinagar. During search, officers were able to recover 10Kgs of poppy straw and 3grams of Herion like substance from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pattan and further investigation has been set into motion.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
