January 31:* ```Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party during naka checking at Chewdara crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. During search, 1.1Kgs of Charas like powder was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Tanveer Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Yousuf Ganie resident of Sadipora Beerwah. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 13/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law.```
