March 17: `Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.

A police party led by SHO PS Behibagh at a checkpoint established at Parigam intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 13 Codeine Phosphate bottles concealed in a bag was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat resident of Arwani. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 22/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Behibagh and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.```
