Jammu, March 14:District Police Jammu on March 13, 2019, recovered around 4050 kg of poppy straw in Nagrota and arrested two drug peddlers.

Based on specific information, a police party led by SDPO Nagrota - DySP Mohan Sharma and SHO Nagrota - Insp. Deepak Pathania, established a naka at Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota. During checking at the naka, one of the vehicles bearing no. PB06G 5345 was apprehended and on search of the said vehicle in presence of a Magistrate,183 bags containing bhukki (poppy straw) like substance were found loaded in the vehicle. On weighing, the total quantity of the bhukki like substance was found to be 4050 kg. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Malkeet Singh, s/o Bhuta Singh, age 53 yrs, r/o Talbandi pain, Kapurthala, and the co-accused, Kulwinder Singh, s/o Puran Singh, age 37 yrs, r/o Billakothi, Kapurthala, have been arrested.

In relation to this, FIR No. 92/2019 u/s 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Nagrota and investigation has been initiated.
