Sopore, 18 April: During the past couple of months a gang of burglars was active in Sopore who were using fake wooden Gun (AK-47) and committed burglary and thefts in various residential houses creating fear psychosis among people and had thrown challenge for law enforcing agencies.


After tireless and intensive efforts of Police team Constituted by SSP Sopore Shri. Javaid Iqbal JKPS lead by Shri. Raja Majid SDPO Sopore, Inspector Azim iqbal SHO Police Station Sopore and SI Imtiyaz Ahmad the gang has been identified and finally arrested by Sopore police and cases of burglary/thefts were registered FIR No. 94/2019 U/S 392, 506, 342, RPC in Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up.

Those arrested include the gang leader Bilal Ahmad Rather and his associates Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie, Lateef Ahmad Mir, Farooq Ahmad Malik and recovered fake wooden AK - 47 Gun, one motorcycle and two cellphones from their procession which they were using to commit crime.

With busting of this gang , the people of the area had a sigh of relief and this will go a long way to infuse the sense of security among the people of the area.
