Srinagar, 9th May: Srinagar Police today gave a sigh of relief to common customers in holy month of Ramadan by cracking whip on shopkeeprs who charged high rates from the customers.

SDPO Sadder Shri Shabir Khan accompanied by Tehsildar South Mubashir Ahmed along with DO Rangreath today visited different areas of the Sadder Police sub division and checked the rate lists of the shopkeepers.

During surprise checks hundred Kgs of rotten vegetables and fruits were disposed off while a fine of around Rs 7,000 was also being put to different hoarders and black marketers.

Various shops ranging from chicken, meat, vegetables, sweets and fruits were checked.

General buyers of the market appreciated the step of the Police along with civil administration and demanded that such drive must continue in holy month of Ramadan.
