DGP, Chairperson PWWA inaugurate Women Police Station, Police Welfare outlet at Kathua

Police is committed and on forefront to protect the rights of women and children: DGP

JAMMU, DECEMBER 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police is always committed and is on the forefront to protect the rights of women and children. This was stated by the Director-General of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh after inaugurating a new building for the Women Police Station in Kathua.

The DGP J&K and Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), J&K Dr. Rubinder Kaur inaugurated Women Police Station in district Kathua in presence of IGP Jammu Shri Mukesh Singh, DIG, JSK Range Shri Vivek Gupta, Shri O.P Bhagat Deputy Commissioner Kathua, SSP Kathua Shri Shridhar Patil, AIG Building PHQ Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat, AIG Welfare/Communication Shri Manoj Pandit, SSP Traffic Rural Shri Mohan Lal Kaith, Retired Police officers, members from civil society, SHO and staff of Women Police Station, Kathua.

The DGP while congratulating the Jammu Kashmir Police especially Kathua Police personnel on the inauguration of new Women Police Station said that the Women Police Cell is already functioning excellently in the district but the spacious and well designed Police Station is first of its kind in the district. He said that the Women Police Station has a special space for children on the guidelines of the National Commission for protection of child rights. He said that the soon the Police Station will be connected with the CCTNS.

The DGP said that the Jammu Kashmir Police is always committed and on the forefront to protect the women and child rights. He said that Police of Jammu Zone has already initiated the provision to provide the pickup facility for the ladies during late hours and hoped that the other districts of Jammu Kashmir will follow the same.

The DGP said that the strength of Women Police in the Jammu Kashmir Police is getting bigger and added that recruitment process is already underway wherein nearly 2000 women will be joining two new women battalions which will definitely help in handling domestic and other crimes against women.

The DGP said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir, Police and security forces have played a vital role in maintaining peace and order in the Union Territory especially during the last five months. He said that Pakistan is trying to infiltrate terrorists and added that border security grid is capable enough to thwart such nefarious designs of Pakistan. The DGP said that all those inimical to the peace process and those who were threatening local people of Kashmir have been either arrested or have been eliminated. He said that many terrorist modules have been smashed. It is our priority and aim to make Jammu Kashmir terrorism free and the drive against the terrorism will continue, DGP added.

Earlier, the Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), J&K Dr. Rubinder Kaur along with PWWA member Mrs Poonam Patil inaugurated a Police Family Welfare Center outlet at Police Pariwar Petrol Pump, Kathua.
