Police public interaction meetings held at Srinagar and Awantipora


February 27:```Continuing with its public outreach programme, Police public interaction meetings were facilitated in Srinagar and Awantipora today.

In Srinagar, the meeting was held at Police Post Urdu Bazar and chaired by SP City North Shri Al-Tahir Geelani-JKPS, besides other senior police officers were also present on the occasion. The meeting was attended by large number of respectable citizens including members from business community residing in the North City areas.

In Awantipora, the meeting was held at Police Station Tral and chaired by SSP Awantipora Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS, besides other senior police officers were also present on the occasion. The meeting was attended by respectable citizens and other persons from the area including representatives of local Auqaf, traders federation etc.

The participants raised various concerns pertaining to the areas including the drug menace and other social crimes.

The main aim of these meetings was to create an opportunity to ensure that the governance reaches at the local levels. These meetings are organized to facilitate interaction with community members and redress their grievances so as to create cordial police-public relationship.

The chairing officers assured the participants that their genuine issues pertaining to police will be redressed on priority. Officers also assured them that police is working continuously to curb the criminal activities and sought their cooperation in eradicating other social crimes from the area.

Community members have hailed the efforts of police in facilitating community interaction meets where participants express their opinion freely. The participants thanked and assured full cooperation to curb the social evils in the area. The participants also hailed the special drives of police against drug peddlers and action against persons involved in other social crimes.```
