Srinagar, APRIL 23: In view of the pandemic, Jammu and Kashmir Police is on forefront in helping the poor and needy persons/families, besides, complete lockdown and social distancing is also being ensured across Jammu and Kashmir to restrict the spread of COVID-19.

In Central Kashmir, during the lock down period a number of families and person were helped out, besides a number of persons were also booked for violating lockdown orders issued by the government.

In Srinagar, police extending it’s helping hand distributed 6000 kgs of rice, 3000 kgs of wheat, 650 kgs of Dal Channa and Razma, 1950 kgs of Red Chilli powder, 130 kgs of Turmeric powder, 650 kgs of salt, 650 packets of Tea, 300 kgs of milk, 650 liters of mustard oil and other essentials to the locals of the area. Medicine worth Rupees over thirty thousands were also provided to the persons in need in the district. Police also provided 7100 kgs of rice and over 800 kgs of different Dals, medicine and cash to the non-locals putting up in the Srinagar District.

In Budgam, over ten thousand masks and 2000 sanitizers were provided to the locals of the districts and 500 masks and 200 sanitizers were provided to the non-locals putting up in the district.

In Ganderbal, 700 kgs of rice, 800 kgs of flour, 150 kgs of Dal and vegetables, 85 liters of cooking oil, 150 kgs of turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt, 100 liters of milk has been provided to the people in need in the district, besides over 1500 Masks and sanitizers were provided to the locals of the district during the period of lockdown. Police also provided 300 kgs of rice, 200 kgs of flour and 53 kgs of dals and vegetables and other essentials to the non-locals putting up in the district.

Soon after the outbreak of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, JK Police established special helplines at every district headquarters to provide help and helplines are working 24x7 to ensure that people should not face any problem with regard to the Medicare and other day to day requirement. The helpline numbers were shared on official social media pages of Jammu and Kashmir Police and other media platforms. In case of any emergency people can call any time on these helplines numbers so that immediate help and assistance is ensured.

Pertinent to mention that 151 FIRs were registered, 04 shops were sealed and 43 vehicles were seized for violating the lock down orders in Srinagar district. In Budgam, 3 shops were sealed, 45 vehicles were seized and 65 FIRs were registered for violating the government orders issued over Pandemic. Similarly, in Ganderbal 08 shops were sealed, 15 vehicles were seized and 22 FIRs were registered against the persons for violating lockdown order.
