*July 19:* ```Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Awantipora arrested 02 drug peddlers and seized contraband substances from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established near Nambal intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01AE-4877 with one person on board identified as Adil Shafi Mir resident of Bemina Toheedabad. During search officers were able to recover 31grams of herion from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Case FIR No. 94/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Similarly, Officers at a checkpoint established near Tulbagh Pampore intercepted one suspicious person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Rather resident of Tulbagh Pampore. Officers during checking were able to recover 09 Kgs of poppy straw from him, which he was carrying in a bag. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Pampore where he remains in custody.

Case FIR No 53/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and investigation into the matter has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
