August 14:``Today at about 0930hrs terrorists fired indiscriminately upon a joint naka party of police and security forces at Gulshan Nagar area of Nowgam Srinagar.

In the terror incident, three Police personnel sustained grievous gunshot injuries and were evacuated to hospital for the treatment of their injuries. However, two injured identified as Fayaz Ahmad and Ishfaq Ayoub of IRP 20th Bn succumbed to their injuries and attained martyrdom.

Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard. Investigation is in progress. Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on to nab the terrorists.

Later on, in order to pay honour and respect to these martyrs, a wreath lying ceremony was held in Armed Police Complex Humhama, where floral tributes were paid to the martyrs.

Shri RR Bhatnagar advisor to Hon’ble LG J&K led civil and police officers in paying tributes and laying floral wreath on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyrs.

DGP J&K Shri Dilbag Singh-IPS, ADGsP Shri RR Swain, Shri AK Chowdray, Shri SJM Gillani, Shri AG Mir, IGP CRPF(OPS) Shri Rajesh Kumar, IGP Kashmir Zone Shri Vijay Kumar, IGP CRPF Shri SK Yadav, IGP CRPF Shri PK Panday, DIG CRPF Shri DS Maan, SSP Srinagar Shri M. Haseeb Mughal, SSP Budgam Shri Amod Ashok Nagpuri, Commandant IRP 13th BN Shamshair Hussain and Commandent IRP 20th BN Shri Baqar Samoon, other senior officers and jawans of the police and security forces also laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyrs.

The martyrs bodies were later on handed over to their next of kins for last rites.
