June 16: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Awantipora have arrested 02 drug peddlers & recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Tral, during patrolling at Hurdmir Tral signalled two suspicious persons carrying bags to stop however, they tried to flee from the spot but alert police party apprehended them tactfully. During search, 20Kgs of poppy straw was recovered which was concealed in 02 bags. They have been identified as Gh Hassan Bhat son of Ab Gani Bhat and Bakhtwar Ah Bhat son of Gh Mohiudin, both residents of Lariyar Tral.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 96/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tral & investigation was initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.```
