Police recovers huge quantity of contraband substance in Baramulla & Pulwama _01 drug peddler arrested_


June 16: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Baramulla & Pulwama have recovered huge quantity of contraband substance and also arrested a drug peddler.

In Baramulla, a police party of PS Pattan during patrolling at Dargam signalled a suspicious person carrying some bags to stop. On seeing the police party, the suspected person left the bags on the spot and tried to flee, but the alert patrolling party apprehended him tactfully. He has been identified as Bashir Ahmad Reshi son of Abdul Rasheed Reshi resident of Reshipora Pattan. During search, 25 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered.

Similarly in Pulwama, acting on a specific information through reliable sources that one person namely Feroz Ahamd Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Zadoora Banpora has indulged in drug peddling and hoarded narcotic substance in his residential house.

On receipt of this information, a Police party of PS Pulwama along with concerned Executive Magistrate raided the spot. During search, officers were able to recover 08Kgs of Poppy Straw from his residential house but he managed to escape from the spot however, efforts are on to effect his arrest.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigation initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
