August 14: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers including a lady in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Dafpora intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. He has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Amin Khan resident of Dafpora. During checking, officers were able to recover 1232 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon Plus from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 273/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation set into motion.

Moreover, during the investigation of case FIR No. 271/2022 of Police Station Budgam in which 05 drug peddlers were arrested and 03 vehicles were seized on 11/08/2022. Today one more notorious drug peddler was arrested in the said case who was evading his arrest. He has been identified as Parveez Ahmed Dar @Pare Punjabi son of Mohammad Anwar Dar resident of Dar Mohalla Nasrullapora.

Meanwhile, Police Station Budgam received specific information that a couple living in a rented accommodation near Railway Station Budgam is actively involved in sale of contraband substance. During search of the said place, Police party recovered 4grams of Heroin like substance, 01 digital balance and some insulin syringes. The duo has been identified as Shah Faisal son of Gulzar Ahmed Shah and (name withheld) wife of Shah Faisal, residents of Mohanpora Ompora. They have been arrested and shifted to PS where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 274/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation set into motion.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making continuous efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
