August 15: On the occasion of 76th Independence day & as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Police in Budgam today organised a Cross Country event under the title “Celebrating the spirit of freedom” to promote the mission of Har Ghar Tiranga. The event was flagged off by SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem Khan-JKPS. The event started at 0700 hours from Railway Station Budgam and culminated at District Police Headquarters Budgam. More than 800 persons/students of different age groups participated in the event.

During the pre-flag off ceremony, SSP Budgam interacted with the participants and expressed that the event “Celebrating the spirit of freedom” has been organised on Independence Day-22 to commemorate our freedom fighters who sacrificed their precious lives for the freedom of the nation besides nurturing the sportsman spirit among the youth.
Besides SSP Budgam, DySP DAR Budgam, SHO PS Budgam and other senior officers were present on the occasion who also participated in the event.

Closing ceremony was held at District Police Headquarters Budgam, SSP Budgam distributed cash rewards, mementos and certificates among the first 03 winners in both categories, boys & girls. In boys’ category, Shakir Ahmed Malik secured first position, Umar Farooq secured second and the third position was secured by Owais Malik. In girls category Mehreen Javiad secured first position, Shahista Shabir secured second & third position was secured by Aruja Bilal. Refreshment was also provided to all the participants.

SSP Budgam, during closing remarks, congratulated the participants and expressed his gratitude for joining the event and making it successful.```
