August 16: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Acting on specific information about drug peddlers in Lakhripora area of Budgam, a police party of Police Station Budgam raided the house of Reyaz Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Larkhipora Budgam and recovered 44kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in two suit cases. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, whileas the other drug peddler managed to fled away from the spot. However, efforts are on to nab the absconding drug peddler.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 278/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making continuous efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.```
