March 02:`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Ganapora crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully. During search, around 38grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Lone son of Gh Nabi Lone resident of Udipora Langate. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In this connection, a case vide FIR No.14/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralgund and investigation has been initiated.


Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.```
