March 20:``Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

In Shopian, Police Station Zainapora has reliably learnt that one person namely Sameer Ahmad Ganie son of Mohamad Yousf Ganie resident of Dhobi Mohalla Zainapora has concealed contraband like substance in his residential house at Zainapora. Accordingly, a Police party from PS Zainapora alongwith concerned Executive Magistrate raided the said house and recovered 18.5Kgs of Charas like substance. The said accused involved in the commission of crimes has been arrested on the spot. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated.
