Police arrests Shopkeeper in Baramulla for illegally selling petroleum products on exorbitant rates

May 19: `Police in Baramulla have arrested a shopkeeper for being involved in selling of Petroleum products on exorbitant rates at Uri.

A police party led by SHO Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shri Shokat Ali-JKPS arrested one shopkeeper identified as Altaf Ahmad Handoo son of Abdul Hamid Handoo resident of Uri Baramulla for his involvement in illegally selling of Petroleum products on exorbitant rates at his shop at Main Market Uri in District Baramulla. Officers were able to recover 130 litres of Diesel and 40 litres of Petrol from his shop. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Uri and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members has hailed the efforts of police for their quick and vigilant action against such persons. Police has assured the community members that Police is resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities.```
