NARCOTIC SMUGGLING BID FOILED, TWO HELD WITH 35 KG POPPY STRAW IN NAVYUGA, BANIHAL

Ramban 06 April: Cracking down on Narcotics smuggling under *Operation Sanjeevani* Ramban Police under the overall supervision of *SSP Ramban Shri Anuj Kumar IPS*, foiled a Narcotics smuggling bid at Navyuga Banihal and arrested two persons with 35 kgs of Poppy straw.
A police party of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel while conducting routine checking duty at Navyuga Tunnel, Banihal intercepted one truck bearing registration no. JK02BJ 4269 which was on its way from kashmir towards Jammu.
On questioning the driver of above said vehicle disclosed his identity as Rocky Kumar son of Gain Chand resident of Sarsoo, Dhandhal, Tehsil -Ramnagar, Udhampur and Co-driver disclosed his identity as Shankar Singh son of Kirpal Singh resident of Prowa Jagir, Tehsil-Ramnagar, Udhampur.
During the process of checking poppy straw like substance approximately 35 kgs was recovered from the cabin of the said truck.
A case FIR No 48/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act registered at PS Banihal.
The accused persons has been arrested and contraband seized, investigation of the case going on to prove backward and forward linkages.
The arrest and recovery was made by Police team of PS Banihal headed by SHO Banihal under the supervision of SDPO Banihal, Adl.SP Ramban and overall supervision by SSP Ramban.
