March 25: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party headed by IC Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at Manigam, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Abdullah Bhat resident of Check Badwani Kurigam Qazigund, carrying a nylon bag. During search, officers were able to recover 4.1 Kgs of Poppy Straw & 1.5 grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remain in custody.

Subsequently, a case vide FIR number 86/2024 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.

General public is requested to come forward or Dial 112 with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police in eradicating the drug menace from the society.```
