Expected verdict on Ayodya; celebration of upcoming religious functions


Jammu, November 08: Director General of Police, J&K Shri Dilbag Singh today chaired a meeting in Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu in view of the expected Ram Janam Bhoomi – Babri Masjid verdict, as also upcoming festivals of Guru Nanak Dev Jis Birthday and Eid-Milad-un-Nabi. The meeting was attended by Dr. B. Srinivas, ADGP (CID) J&K, Shri A.K. Choudhary ADGP Coordination, PHQ, Shri S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP Armed, Shri Muneer Ahmad Khan ADGP (Security, L&O), Shri Sharad Kapoor GoC 26 Div. Jammu, Shri Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu, Shri Danesh Rana IGP Armed Jammu, Shri N.S Jamwal IG BSF Jammu, Mrs. Charu Sinha, IG CRPF, Jammu, Shri Vivek Gupta DIG JSK Range and other senior officers. The Range DIsG and District SsP of Jammu region (except of Jammu and Samba) attended the meeting through Video Conferencing.

While chairing the meeting the DGP Shri Dilbag Singh said that the officers must work out their plans and implement them on ground. He said that there should be clarity of thought while devising plans and while executing them. He directed the officers to take action whatever they feel necessary. He impressed upon all the field commanders to take decisions and implement them in consultation with the district authorities. He said that all preparations must be made in advance and we should stand ready for any requirement.

He also directed the officers particularly the district SsP to have meetings with the force commanders in their respective districts, share their apprehensions and preparations and assign the roles of all the forces. He directed the district SsP to also ensure that the officers are available on the ground. He advised the district authorities to discourage religious processions in sensitive areas. He said that adequate deployment be made to the vulnerable pockets and also the communities must be sensitized. He reminded the officers that Pakistan is hell-bent on creating trouble and exploit any situation on the border as well as in the hinterland. He directed that Border grid, City grid and the Highway grid must remain alert and nakas with all the ware-withal be put in place at the important locations / roads. He also directed the officers to take care of the residual militancy and take preventive measures against trouble mongers.

He directed that religious places and places of worship must be protected and any attempt to create any communal trouble must be neutralized with suitable advance action. He expressed confidence that the police and security forces will be able to take care of any of the challenges as they have done in recent past.
