June 23:```On a specific input generated by Pulwama Police regarding presence of terrorists in village Bundzoo area of district Pulwama, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 55 RR and 182 Bn CRPF in the said area.

During the search operation as the presence of terrorists got ascertained they were given opportunity to surrender, however they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. The identification and affiliation of the killed terrorists is being ascertained.

During the encounter one CRPF personnel received critical gunshot injuries and later on succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom. IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar-IPS and all ranks of Police and Security Forces have paid rich tributes to the brave-heart for his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Incriminating material including arms (two AK rifles) and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.

The dead bodies of the killed terrorists have been sent to Handwara for their last rites after conducting medico-legal formalities including collection of their DNA. In case any family claims the killed terrorists to be their kith or kin, they can come forward for the identification and participation in last rites at Handwara.

In this connection a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any.```
